Terms of Use — Peekaboo

What Peekaboo is, and what it is not

Peekaboo is an informational and educational tool. It helps you understand what is in food and cosmetic products and make your own decisions. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for your pediatrician, allergist, or any other health professional. For anything specific to your child's health, talk to a doctor.

AI can be wrong. Peekaboo's answers are generated by an AI model from product information and public sources. It can misread a label, miss an ingredient, or draw the wrong conclusion. Treat every verdict as a starting point for your own judgment, not a final word.

If your child has allergies, read this

Peekaboo can miss trace warnings ("may contain traces of...") and cross contamination from shared production lines. It cannot see how a product was manufactured. For allergies, always read the actual label on the package. The label is the source of truth, not Peekaboo. When in doubt, ask your doctor or the manufacturer.

1. Who we are, and agreeing to these terms

The Peekaboo app and the peekabooapp.net website are operated by Alen Faljic s.p., Ulica Iva Standekerja 7, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia ("Peekaboo", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You must be an adult to use Peekaboo. The app is made for parents and caregivers; it is not directed at children.

2. No emergency use

Never use Peekaboo in an emergency. If your child has an allergic reaction, swallows something harmful, or shows any concerning symptoms, contact emergency services or your doctor immediately. The app is not monitored by medical professionals and is not built to respond to urgent situations.

3. Accuracy of results

Verdicts and explanations are generated by AI from product data and public scientific and regulatory sources, which the app cites where it can. We work hard on quality, but we do not guarantee that any result is accurate, complete, or current. Products get reformulated, labels change, and sources can lag behind. If a result looks wrong, please use the report option in the app; those reports genuinely improve the service.

4. Your account

The app works anonymously at first; you can add an email to create a permanent account and keep your history across devices. Keep access to your email secure, since sign in codes go there. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app; see the Privacy Policy for what deletion covers.

5. Free checks and Peekaboo Pro

Peekaboo includes a small number of free checks so you can try it.
Peekaboo Pro is an optional subscription with monthly and yearly plans that unlocks unlimited checks. Current prices are always shown in the app before you buy.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your App Store account and renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store subscription settings; cancelling stops the next renewal.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies, not by us.
Deleting the app or your Peekaboo account does not cancel the subscription; cancel it in your App Store settings.

These terms supplement, and do not replace, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which the app links to. For matters relating to the App Store, purchases, and billing, Apple's terms control if the two conflict.

6. Fair and acceptable use

To keep Peekaboo fast and affordable for every family, fair use limits apply, including reasonable caps on how many checks can run per device in a period. In addition, you agree not to:

Use the service in a way that harms it or other users, or attempt to bypass its security, quotas, or device integrity checks;
Scrape, bulk extract, or systematically harvest results from the service;
Reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the service, except where the law expressly permits it;
Resell or commercially exploit the service or its results without our written agreement;
Use the service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or limit access that violates these rules.

7. Ownership and your license

The app, the website, our branding, and the software behind them belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non exclusive, non transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own personal, non commercial use in your household. Product names and trademarks shown in results belong to their owners; showing them does not imply any endorsement, in either direction.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Peekaboo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on the app's results. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for intent or gross negligence, and your statutory rights as a consumer under EU and national consumer law, which remain fully unaffected.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Consumers can also use the courts of their home country where the law provides for it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you, in the app or by email, before they take effect, and update the effective date above. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply.
